Education Programs

Through its affiliation with Princeton University, CMI serves as an interdisciplinary platform connecting innovative educational programs that engage and support undergraduate, graduate and post-doctoral students to become leaders in the fields of Climate Science, Carbon Capture and Storage and Integration and Policy.

As CMI is not a degree-granting program, prospective students are encouraged to apply directly to the academic department of interest.

Undergraduate Opportunities

Princeton University offers a wide range of opportunities to undergraduate students interested in topics related to carbon mitigation, ranging from courses and certificate programs, summer and year-round internships to student run organizations.

Graduate and Post-Graduate Opportunities

Prospective graduate and post-graduate students are encouraged to visit the Lead Project PIs page to learn about CMI research activities and to obtain contact information for current opportunities.

The Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department at Princeton offers graduate level programs on energy and the environment in the areas of combustion and energy conversion, alternative energy sources, storage systems, fission/fusion and energy efficiency.

Princeton University's Program in Science, Technology and Environmental Policy (STEP) is based in the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs with strong ties to the Princeton Environmental Institute. The program offers a certificate for students enrolled in the WWS M.P.A. or M.P.P. programs and studies leading to a Ph.D.

The Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (AOS) Program is a unique collaboration between Princeton University and the Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Lab (GFDL). AOS is an autonomous program within the Geosciences Department and hosts graduate and postgraduate students to conduct climate research.

The Princeton Energy & Climate Scholars (PECS) group brings together a select group of highly talented and engaged Princeton Ph.D. students with research expertise ranging from energy security and technology to climate science and policy.

Additional graduate fellowships and awards are offered that broaden students perspectives beyond their core expertise to tackle timely environmental challenges across traditional discipline boundaries.
