Air Travel

Princeton University is accessible via four international airports: Philadelphia International (PHL) and Newark Liberty International (EWR) are more accessible to Princeton University than Kennedy (JFK) or LaGuardia (LGA).

Philadelphia and Newark International airports are equidistant from Princeton, both approximately a 1-½ hour drive by car from Princeton University. Alternatively, you can take the train from either airport: New Jersey Transit trains from Newark Liberty International to Princeton take approximately one hour, and SEPTA trains from Philadelphia International to the Trenton, NJ require a few changes and will take substantially more than one hour.

Train Travel

From New York and points north: If you are traveling from New York City, New Jersey Transit trains out of Penn Station in Manhattan stop in Princeton Junction (transfer at Princeton Junction to arrive in Princeton at the "Dinky" station). Certain Amtrak trains from points further north also stop at Princeton Junction (please see Amtrak schedule or call 800-USA-RAIL).

From Washington D.C. and points south: If you are traveling from Washington, D.C., you must use Amtrak. Amtrak trains from Washington D.C. stop in Trenton, NJ and Princeton Junction. From the Trenton train station you can take a car, or a taxi, or make a connection to the New Jersey transit trains which make stops in Princeton Junction. From Princeton Junction you can take a cab (see below) or take the "Dinky" train to Princeton University.

Local Taxi and Limousine Companies

A-1 Limousine

A-1 Limousine provides service to and from local airports. Approximate travel time differs according to day and time, but on average the time between Newark and Philadelphia airports to Princeton University is approximately 1-½ hours. For more information, please visit the A-1 Limousine website.

Princeton Taxis and Alternatives

Taxis in Princeton are always available and very convenient. Travel time from Princeton Junction is about 15 minutes, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, you can take the Princeton "Dinky" train from Princeton Junction. The Princeton "Dinky" station is on University Place, just off Alexander Road adjacent to the WaWa at the edge of the campus.

For travel from Washington, D.C. to Trenton, NJ via taxi time is approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

Alternatively, you can take a New Jersey Transit train from Trenton, NJ; transfer at Princeton Junction for the Princeton "Dinky" train. The trip will take approximately 30 minutes.
